The General🏁
Washington, Georgia
We’ve been away from home for a week now, and the days have went so fast! We started out heading to Florida for the Wild Boar GNCC, took a jaunt over to Vilano Beach for the week, and we are now heading to Georgia for round 3 GNCC the General at the Aonia Pass Motocross!! Hayden is all excited to get out on the track again!!

Thursday - 11:00am we roll out of Vilano Beach... on a 5 1/2 hour drive to our next adventure. We are headed to another Airbnb that David found near the track. It is about a 35 minute drive away from the track..but that is ok!.. We are kinda done with hotels right now after getting our trailer broken into after the Wild Boar last weekend! This Airbnb is straight up for Luke..a small cabin like space built on the side of a barn.. in the sticks. NO kitchen sink or stove... there is a fire pit and gas grill outside for cooking! A win for mom was no dishes! Leave them on the counter and the hostess would take care of them.
We picked up some steaks, steak & chop marinade, garden vegetable ready rice, and Zucchini to fry up a quick dinner for David and I. The kids picked out hot dogs.. simple enough!
Luke was already excited about the fire pit and it being similar to a cabin.. then we found a bucket of goodies with s’mores waiting on the counter!

Once we arrived Thursday evening we had to get the fire going! The wood was not burning the best as it was freshly cut. Hayden and Luke fixed it up with their fire burning skills.. adding pine needles, (that’s why they love Georgia.. tons of pine needles) small sticks, and pine cones around the yard.
After cooking a 15 minute dinner on the grill .. time to get some rest before heading to the track tomorrow.
Goodnight 💤
Friday - We head to the track and pick up some chick-a-filet on the way.. I am really missing my camper here.. when we are not staying at the track time is limited and more meals than I like end up fast food! I‘m just NOT a fast food of any kind of fan! but It works to get us through the weekend!
11:30am.. it is full sun 79 degrees! Yay it finally feels like summer.. I know it is not summer yet but we all needed a summer day! 😎☀️
We roll into the track looking for a good spot to set up.. we found an area along the tree line to drop our trailer and pop up our canopy. The track goes right behind us in the woods so we’ll be able to see bikes going through a short section.

Luke, Lynlee, and I are hanging out in the shade while David and Hayden take off on their bicycles to check out the track.

Hayden checking out the bridge
GNCC mark the tracks with arrows - the youth track that Hayden rides is blue arrows usually around 4-5 miles.. double X like you see in the photo above is to signal racers there is a danger area. Red arrows are the Pro bike tracks; they have longer tracks 10 miles +, and black arrows are for the micro bikes under 2 mile tracks.

A little over an hour later they return.. Hayden thinks this is a good track. It is pretty dry so it’ll be a little dusty.. BUT there is always water holes/mud somewhere! It wouldn’t be a good race without mud!

David has a few things to finish up on the race bike, he had washed it, and changed the oil after the last race while we were in Florida. He has some greasing to do, checking it over, and SHINING it up with some SC1.
Next is going to registration to check Hayden in.. and Hayden taking the bike through inspection. We are race ready for tomorrow morning! 🏁 So now we are relaxing..

We have race friends camping all around us.. Hayden met some new friends to hang out with at the track as well. The family we parked beside happened to have a boy that is racing in Hayden’s class! They take off to the bike track they have for the kids to ride bicycles on.. yep when they aren’t racing they are liking on bicycles riding around ... likely looking for jumps?!
We tell them it is warm and they don’t stop so make sure you drink water water water..!!
Josh, Heidi, and their boys have arrived with their camper ready for their first race of 2021. They race dirt bikes so they do not race until Sunday. We hang out for a little bit while they get set up..then we are off to pick up dinner and back to the cabin to clean up and get good rest before race day!!
Hayden has his favorite night before race meal .. Peanut Butter Oatmeal.

How we make
peanut butter oatmeal:
1/4 cup quick oats
1/2 cup cold water
Stir.. microwave for 1 min 30 seconds (or boil water and stir in oats)
Stir in toppings - all are optional-
2 tablespoons peanut butter
2 teaspoons brown sugar or honey
Sprinkle in dark chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon Watkins or Wilton vanilla
dash of sea salt
Once I made it I realized I didn‘t take the vanilla. I might of forgotten it..however I think that is the only thing I have forgotten so far.. I’m pretty happy about that! It is fine without vanilla but we like it is best with it.. we like vanilla in a lot of things.
Saturday - RACE DAY is here!! 6:30AM we are up, dressed, and have everything loaded back into the Burb.. after racing today we will be north bound to home. I’m not gonna lie none us are ready to go home..this trip has went so fast! But we are ready for one last fun day on this adventure with prayers of a safe race.
We head through Wendy’s for breakfast.. more fast food.. we all agree this has to be our last fast food meal for a while! All of bellies are yuck feeling after the past 2 days.
7:30am we roll into the track... another bright sunny day in the high 70s!! 9:30 is race time!
Gear up and get ready..Hayden will fiddle fart around when getting ready for anything else..but when it comes to racing he is ready super early.. he won’t be late or even last minute!! He wants to get to the line up (outside the start) so he can pick his line for the start.
8:30AM Hayden and David are off to the start to line up! .. the start is so far out here .. the rest of us will have to drive over .. then drive back to the trailer to walk down the tree line to the finish.
The race to pick their spot for the start:
Luke, Lynlee, Logan, Josh, Heidi, and I get to the start! We chose to stand around turn 1 today to see the most of the start.

Hayden is in row 7 (8-12 -ATV 125) out of 10 rows. David says there are 18 bikes in his row today, and 120 total on the track!
They go over rules, say prayer, and play the national anthem 🇺🇸... Teeeennnn Seconds!!
The take off:
Hayden will tell ya he’s a little nervous about getting tangled up with another bike at the start.. he was better with it as he went along last year, I expect we will see improvements this year once he’s comfortable with the youth. We are hoping Yamaha‘a GNCC University will give him good tips on tight starts.. that should boost his confidence on how to safely get out front.
He is somewhere around 11th going into the woods from the start! They have a short 4 1/2 minute lap for 1st lap.. Hayden checks in at 10th place!
We were 15 mins into the race getting back to the trailer from the start.. Luke got on his stacyc bike to ride beside me while I carried Lynlee in the baby wrap carrier .. I walked the tree line that the track ran along to see him come through .. Here he comes starting lap 3.. checked in at 6th place after lap 2!!
And then on towards the finish we go.. he’s running 17-18 minute laps so we have a few mins to get there, but in reality these laps seem like an hour sometimes!
Here he comes around from lap 3 onto lap 4!! He’s getting held up in some lapped traffic .. he’s working on getting around them to stay with his class. Hayden checks in at 9th place starting into lap 4! The 2 lap card is out but the leaders of the YXC1 aren’t far behind which will put out the white flag and lap Hayden’s class sometime during this lap.
Watching the GoPro footage Hayden has had a good clean race for all 3 laps! BUT lap 4 gets him.. he said he started getting tired but was still going full boar.. he looses control a bit and slams a tree head on.. Hayden says he hit against the handle bars knocking the wind out of him a but.. BUT he keeps on going.. hits another tree .. and then clipping another tree...darn it! He’s still going but definitely not killin‘ It like he was! The GoPro footage ends after clipping that tree.. only a few minutes before the finish. By figuring he was only maybe 10 mins or less from the finish when the tree bumping began.
Lap 4 is it ..the checkered flag is out.. Hayden finished 11th out of 18 bikes! And 66th out of 120 bikes overall! I have to say I’m super proud that he kept going and didn’t stop..finishing the race after watching that first tree bump on video!😳 The trees always seem to find Hayden or I should say when Hayden loses a few places it’s almost a guarantee he got into a tree! 🌲🌳

Official results are posted on www.gnccracing.com
We head back to the trailer to cool down and hang out for the afternoon. Luke, Lynlee, and I took a walk with the stroller to get Luke and Hayden some Italian Ice 😋.. Luke is grumpin here because he wanted the Italian ice in the middle of the race and the deal from the beginning was afterwards.. he was “hot and tired of waiting.” The Gatorade he picked out and snacks I had packed in my backpack for during the race weren‘t cooling him off 🤷🏼♀️..
Hayden cools down, gets some water then off to the bike track with his buddies again. They also enjoy watching some boys and girls in the 11am race!
We are cleaning up some, getting the bike loaded to the trailer..we plan on hanging out for the Pro-race at 2:00pm - a 2 hour race.

-Pro Pits-
We aren’t going clear back out to that start today! We’ll just wait for them to come by the track where we are sitting.... who will be in first...
We here them coming... 1st is Fowler 🏁 2nd McGill!! Awesome! We see them go through a few more times.. last lap we are loaded up and ready to head home! Fowler still has the lead with Brycen Neal right behind him. Some exciting racing to watch! Fowler gets the win but it’s a close one!
We will not get to see Logan and Conner race this time since they don’t race until tomorrow.. good luck to them!! 🍀 Next race we will all be together with our campers! Yay!
4:15pm we are on the road heading home on an 8 1/2 hour drive.. We are all tired after a long day, but we all agree to cancel our plans of staying half way not wanting to risk staying in a hotel with the trailer again. So I drive the first 3 1/2 hours.. and then it’s all David for the rest of the drive! We made it home at 2:00am Sunday which went right to 3:00am with the time change! These kiddos were real troopers on the way home to! Having them at the track all day = exhausted kiddos!
Showers at 3:00am since they are covered in red clay dust! Then to bed we go!!
Sunday - the cleanup begins!! Washing bikes, gear, laundry! We want it all done because... We get the camper back this coming weekend to load it up for the next GNCC where we will get to spend the whole time at the track with our race friends!! ❤️🏁
Hayden has missed a week of school so he’s stuck catching up today and tomorrow... he looks thrilled!? Yes, he’s tried everything possible to get out of it EVERY day.. it really is not easy to get him to finally do it, but school comes first .. if the A’s and B’s drift off the racing will be done.. so he will focus and “let er’ rip tater chip!” -as Luke says! Got to love these boys and their fun! Lynlee doesn’t have a chance but to be ornery with 2 older brothers! ... it’s going to get better and better! ❤️

It’s been real! We’ll be back soon.. who’s ready for more GNCC racing!?
