Here we are the beginning of June off to round 8 of the 2021 GNCC the Mason Dixon in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania!
Thursday
School is out for the summer! The camper is packed so we can head out as soon as David finishes his work day! It’s only a little over 2 hours from home so we can get there and set up tonight! Yay, that makes for a better Friday at the track!
We only had one weekend off between races .. and we both work.. so the Aldi bake shop had to do for this trip! Have you ever tried their baked goods!? Definitely our go to when we are short on time 😋 M&M cookies and Hayden’s fav Lemon Bread! I believe this is the first trip we’ve taken that I honestly did not bake something!?! I’m sad about it, but 3 kids later.. a 1 year old getting all of her teeth at once.. doesn’t sleep all night 💤.. there’s only so much time in a day!
Hayden’s race bike was all good after the Penton so a good clean up and oil change.. it is ready to go!!
5:00PM we are on the road.. We are stopping for fuel and supper tonight.. Mom doesn’t have to cook! 🤗! 8:00pm we roll into the track.
This looks like a great spot! Close to vendor row and the Finish... however the start will be a jaunt! We camped here in the fall last year and enjoyed it so we’ll try it again!!

30 mins later we are all set up.. shortly after the Shafer‘s arrive to pull in with their camper facing ours. It is a little wet from rain earlier this week, but the weekend is looking hot & sunny! ☀️
FRIDAY
Another great race Friday.. no alarm clocks.. Sun is shining!!😎
We’ll do the usual.. have a nice breakfast cooked in cast iron skillet on the grill.. take a bike ride around to check things out. If you want a GNCC T-shirt today’s the day to get them.
Behind our camper is the “mulch piles” where Hayden and his race buddies hang out riding bikes. They ride up one side and down the other.. make jumps.. who knows what else they will try!?
I hung around the camper most of today watching Luke do his thing and Lynlee crawled around checking things out... I am so ready for her to be walking instead of crawling all around these fields! I know..time goes fast enough so I don’t want to wish it away by any means, but walking would be good!
Some of the day's fun:
Luke found a patch of trees and sticks to gather more firewood. He spent the day making sure he had enough sticks to get the fire going.. setting up the fire at least 3 times!? 🤷🏼♀️🔥
Sometime in the afternoon David & Hayden biked the track to check it out. Hayden is excited..looks like a fun track!
We had a nice fire.. Luke was happy he got to cook his hot dog over the fire.. and then s’mores for dessert! He‘s ready for the Stacyc race tomorrow!
Time for bed so we can all be rested for race day tomorrow! 🌙✨
Saturday
Rise & Shine ☀️ It’s race day! 🏁
7:30am Hayden starts getting around to getting ready.. he likes to be dressed in his gear ready to go soon as he gets up.. then he’ll be outside with his dad checking out the race bike making sure it’s all good to go.
He’s ready and planning for a good start today! 8:50AM Hayden is off to line up!
Grandpa Brian and Grandma Kay are making the 2 hour drive over to watch today!
9:00AM I take off with the double stroller, Luke and Lynlee to the start. 🥵 It’s already warm! BUT I’m not complaining .. I much rather have it hot than cold! The Shafer's cheated by bringing there 4x4 over to the start! 😂Yes, they offered us a ride many times, but I'm too stubborn and decided to walk! It is nice to have a quick way around as these tracks are very spread out.
The National Anthem... The prayer before the race.. I keep repeating over and over until the checkered flag is thrown:
and Teeeenn Seconds!!
😱🤩YES! He got an awesome start!! Took off in 3rd around turn 1 and 2... then 4th over the hill as they are off!
David is off on his bike to check in on him along the track.. my parents and the rest of our pit crew head over towards the finish.
Lap 1 The video footage shows Hayden came up on a bottle neck of quads.. everyone was stopping.. once it started to clear the quad in front of him were not moving.. appears as though they are scared to go in front of all the others taking off.. there was no where for Hayden to go as he was blocked in all sides.. there they all go around him.. 😒 He checks in 12th place for lap 1.
2 days ago he was jumping and flopping around in the living room when he fell off the couch onto his throttle hand bending his pinky finger backwards.. the side of his hand/pinky is bruised and swollen. Hayden says it made it harder for him to race as hard as he is capable of.. in his words every time he hit a bump it was throbbing. Mom says, pretty sure I told you to quit romping on the couch at least 3 times!?
Lap 2 he comes around in 11th!.. the white flag is out a few mins after he checked in.. it’ll be close maybe he’ll still get white flag next lap... we hope so!
Lap 3 he comes around just as the checkered had been thrown.. finishing 11th out of 22 bikes in his class!

Hayden has currently raced 6 of the 8 rounds for the 2021 GNCC season. He is running 8th in overall points in his class! Staying in the top 10 is the goal for the year! 5 races to go for 2021 and points are so close!

We head back to the camper for some lunch.. rehydrate, and to get ready to go watch the Pro ATVs at 2:00pm.
Luke had to take his Stacyc bike over to check out the sand pile (beside the mulch piles) .. the mulch piles were too big for his bike!
We are off to watch the pros over the hill behind our campsite...My action race pics didn't turn out well.. 😒I'm learning my camera trying to figure out the best action settings.
6:30PM Luke is ready for the Stacyc race! We head up to their track that is set up by the finish. He takes a few practice laps around the KTM circle before heading to the start.
This was Luke’s favorite Stacyc race.. they got to start with turn 1, a straight then up a big hill continuing to race the hillside. He bif’d it once after coming around turn 1 on the straight before the hill.. got right up and took off again! ... He had another crash about half way through up on the KTM track.. missed the turn, closlined himself on the chain 😳.. we didn’t see this, but the people that did said he got right up said he was good and took off again! He did awesome!!
The smile on his face as everyone cheered him on was priceless! He had the Shafer crew, Grandpa Brian, Grandma Kay, and many other race friends cheering him on!
I’m sure you can guess what the deal was after Luke raced...

YES you guessed it... get the fire burning!!
It was a little warm for a fire, but we all suffered and gathered around with Luke. Once the sun went down it wasn’t too bad! 🥵.. At this point of the night I don’t get much of the fire.. We’ve had supper that needs cleaned up, Lynlee is overtired grumpy.. BUT she will fight off sleeping as long as possible! only wants mom😩 get her bathed and to sleep.. then it’s time to start showers for the boys. Remember we have limited water & tank space.. if you don't keep on them the water will be gone and the tan will be full before David and I get showers!
We will be back up and at it 8am tomorrow to watch the Shafer boys race!
Goodnight😴
SUNDAY
We pack up the stroller with blankets and some snacks to go find a shady area to watch the Shafer Boys! Logan races at 8AM for 1.5 hours, and Conner races right after at 10:00am for 2 hours!
12:30PM We were packed up and ready to head out but we were parked in..so not much we can do... the boys head over to watch some of the PRO BIKE race that starts at 1:00pm.
3:00PM Home bound to start the clean up, and get ready to celebrate Lynlee’s (Boom, Chicka Boom) first birthday!! & then we will be off to SNOWSHOE!!
