Wow, this year is flying by as usual.. time can slow down now; it’s summer! Technically it is still spring, but school is out next week so we consider it summer! This weekend we are ready for round 7 of the 2021 GNCC - The Wiseco John Penton in Millfield, OH! .. We don’t have 7+hours of traveling!? Yay!
Thursday
Hayden & Luke had to get another school day in before the race weekend. This gave me time to get the camper finished up and a little more food prep done! Hayden ask for some chocolate chip cookies... I didn’t have time to bake multiple pans of cookies.. so we dropped tablespoons full of dough throughout a 9x13 casserole dish to make one giant cookie!

Clothes and race gear are packed in the camper, food is all good to go.. the hauler is packed a littler lighter today..

The race bike is back at BNR Motorsports to get the starter clutch replaced. It was on back order before the last race... and we decided to have his front shocks redone while it was there. Thankfully, Ryan had an open spot in the trailer to bring the bike to the track for us to pick up. Yay, that saved us 4 hours of driving!
We’ve heard through our race friends they are opening the gates on Thursday at 6pm for the rest of the races.. !! No more sleeping in line!
1:30pm we are loaded and ready to head out! I picked the boys up from school a little early ... it’s the end of the day, and the end of the year, we’ll be honest we’re ready to be done!.. Besides that it’s sunny, no rain in the forecast, and 80 degree temps all weekend...

Only 1 hour 20 minute drive for us today! We did have to stop to fill the fuel tank for the generator and late lunch at Subway. We were too busy finishing up to eat lunch! 3:30pm we roll into the track.. not too many people in line, but they kept rollin in behind us!
6:00pm the gates open! Everyone is anxious to get in, set up, and get into our race life mode!

Thanks to Josh going early this morning to wait in line.. we got our favorite spot here at the Penton! We have plenty space for the kids to play and a great view.
Friday
It’s Friday morning.. we got to sleep in since we were all set up last night! AND it’s looking like a beautiful sunny day in the 80s! ☀️
I love Friday‘s at the track! ... We hang out at the camper.. cook outside (no messes to clean up 🤗) ... chilled in my zero gravity chair out in the sunshine.. took a nice walk over to the start.. through pro pits and the vendor row. NOW that was a workout here as it’s all hills..pushing that double stroller with Luke & Lynlee uphill.. through large gravel, down dirt roads..thankfully the way back was all downhill! Anyway Friday‘s are a nice slow pace compared to most days of our lives!
What our Friday looks like:
We were enjoying our day! David & Hayden rode over to the BNR trailer to pick up his bike ... bike is running good ..all is good to go!
UNTIL 6:30PM or something like that .. David started the race bike to load it into the hauler for the night... umm.. that didn’t sound good!??! Bike won’t start.. doesn’t even try to roll over 😩 oh no! David and Josh tow the race bike behind Josh’s Foreman back to the BNR trailer. They will tear back into it to see what is going on, and hopefully be able to fix it before the morning race!?
A few hours later David rides back over to check things out.. it spun a gear on the cam and broke the valve rocker arm 😳. BNR didn‘t have everything they would need at the track to fix it..they had already loaded it up and took it to a garage nearby to work on it. At this point we hope they can fix it but we really don’t know 100%.
We get the kids showered and ready for bed.. David will head back in the morning and we pray for a quad ready to race!
Saturday
7:30AM Rise & Shine it‘s race day! 🏁
8:00AM It’s another bright sunny day!
David heads over to the BNR trailer.. the bike is sitting there chained up to the trailer 🤞🏻 That means it’s good to go.. however, there’s no one outside .. he decided to give them a little more time as we know they likely had a late night!
Sometime before 9:00am David & Hayden picked up the race bike ..after working on it until 1:00am it was ready to race!! Hayden was really excited that they were able to get it fixed! We were really thankful as we are at the Ohio race.. one of the very few our parents get to watch Hayden race. It would of been disappointing to the grandparents if they would of had to skip out on this one. However, BNR made it right without question.. and Hayden is off to the starting line!!
Grandma Kay and Grandma Joan are on a ladies day out at the track... because of the rush of the morning we didn’t get any pictures before the race.

We have quite the crew here at the start cheering Hayden on!
.. Start off the race day with the National Anthem.. prayer.. and then teeenn seconds!
AND their off....
OH NO!! Quads tangled up at the start and it was too late... that stinks! Another take off in last place...😔 he’ll work hard to make his way from the back through the pack once again!
We take off towards the finish.. there’s no service here so I want to be close to check the scoring booth. We DID finally bring the walkie talkies.. at least David and I can communicate!
We missed him on the first lap, but he checked in 18th out of 24 bikes.
Lap 2 he checks in 14th! He’s rippin‘!
Lap 3 checks in 12th! And the white flag is out.. last lap to gain on them.
Stacy Mundy Photography takes awesome photos!
Here he comes for the checkered flag! 🏁

Finishing 13th out of 24 bikes! He had a blast out there trying to keep the hammer down, and he finished proud of what he accomplished once again after a cruddy start!
Say what !? No other major events this race.. he got out with a couple small tree bumps!
Hayden’s favorite part of the youth track was riding beside the Monster Mile! and he is pretty sure he‘s due for a good start at the next race!

Saturday after race consisted of a water balloon fight to cool down..
So much fun!!
Josh, David, Heidi, and the boys are off to watch the Pro ATV race.. Luke, Lynlee, and I stayed at the camper a bit for Boom to take a nap.
Once she woke up we loaded up the double stroller and took off meandering around.. I just like to stroll around.. I probably look lost wandering 😂🤷🏼♀️ I ended up around the finish watching and listening to how the Pro ATV race is playing out!

After a 2 hours of racing Walker brings in 1st place! with Jarrod McClure coming in 2nd and Cole Richardson 3rd!
6:30PM is supposed to be Luke‘s Stacyc race.. however, he had a fall in the shower on Monday that gashed his chin open leading to an ER visit and stitches. 🥴 Mom’s rule he has to sit out this weekend to heal up for the rest of the season! He will be healed up and ready for the Mason Dixon!!
Saturday night consist of Luke‘s fire he took apart and put together several times today!
It‘s been a long fun hot day! Time for showers and a good nights rest to watch the Shafer boys in the am! Goodnight💤
