It is the end of June and finally we can race again!! So to catch ya’ll up.. our last GNCC was The Hoosier, first weekend of May. Hayden won his class! Yay, we are so excited to see the rest of the season..AND then…
Tuesday.. 3 days after the Hoosier racing came to an end for 6 WEEKS!
Hayden has been playing around the yard at home on his little Polaris 50.. just being Hayden…
and then he was warned, have fun BUT I think you are getting a little too crazy on that thing.. as I tell his dad that is the 4 wheeler he’s going to break a bone on!
You know as a parent you shouldn’t say those things as you always eat your words!..
Tuesday 8pm.. I’m baking muffins for the coffee shop.. David says “Hayden hurt his arm..he has ice on his shoulder.“
Is it ok? What did he do?
Riding that 50.. I didn’t see it, he was riding behind the garage. He says he threw himself off it and landed on his right shoulder.
Instantly I go upstairs to the living room where he is sitting on the couch..
umm… yea it‘s broken.. the clavicle (collar) bone is broken..
Hayden:
No it isn’t, it’s not broke mom, it didn’t hurt that bad!
Me:
Can you move it?
Hayden:
Umm.. just here but kinda can‘t move it up..
Me:
Don’t try to anymore.. see it’s broken, you need to see an orthopedic for sure!
David:
It isn’t broken! It’ll be fine in a day or 2.. keep ice in it..
Me:
Well he isn’t riding/ racing anything without an Xray!
Long story shortened...we fix him up for the night and plan to head to the Orthopedic Urgent Care first thing in the morning.
AND the x-ray shows.. displaced distal right clavicle.. 🤔 and no physical activities x6 weeks it is! That means NO Penton or Mason Dixon racing happening.. and 6 weeks is the day before we would leave for Snowshoe GNCC University! Let’s pray for good healing!!
I‘m sure by now you know Hayden pretty well.. and you know I have my work cut out for me these next 6 weeks keeping him off of all wheels!!! 😰

and even with all that.. he is still smiling..

still smiling because we are thankful that no surgery is needed.. and a sling is minor compared to what could have been! Always thankful & blessed!
Thankfully, we had a great experience at the orthopedic urgent care, and Hayden’s MD let us follow up the Friday before (5 days early!) for a recheck x-ray that showed his displaced clavicle is healed!!! He can resume normal activities and RACE!! YAY!!

Let’s get on the mountain…. Snowshoe here we come!!
WEDNESDAY
School is out for the summer & Hayden is signed up for GNCC University so we are heading out today!!
8:00am on our way! Sunny.. hot with heat index in 100s at home. Snowshoe temps.. high 70s.. perfect! Only showing rain tonight.
Me doing some prep work to save on cooking later!… You can never go wrong taking pepperoni rolls!

Prepared my gluten free mixes to take along!

9:55am first stop .. coffee please.. Stonewall Coffee in Bridgeport, WV

We need a bike helmet for Lynlee, and I would like to look for myself a few new shirts... We stop by the Meadowbrook Mall!
David takes Hayden and Lynlee into Target to find her a helmet.. Luke and I head into Old Navy.. I’m hoping for 20 minutes to look without the entire crew..
and.. I dunno how, but it was maybe .. MAYBE 10 minutes and there they come!!
Oh well, after trying on everything in the store.. I found 2 shirts and a pair of shorts.. 🤷🏼♀️.. found the boys new shorts on the clearance rack 🤗
Load back up and head over to Aldi & Sam’s..We decided to make time today to stop for food for our trip rather than getting it early... I take Lynlee into Aldi & David takes the boys to Sam’s..
The boys are starving and can’t each much cheaper than pizza from Sam’s! and they actually eat all of it …so that works! .. and of coarse we needed to stock up on peanut butter, case of spring water, easy macs, cereal, and whatever else they find.. likely the biggest box of pop tarts or junk they can find!
I’m over here at Aldi trying to find healthy food that can be managed until we get there.. we have 2 coolers for cold food.. what will fit best to get the most!? …Here I come with the bananas, apples, carrots, celery, spinach dip, chicken.. and so on 😜

Not too bad with all we had to do.. 3 hours later we are back on the road for about 2 more hours!
Ride has been going good.. and then the boys start playing the slap game… 😒 I don’t personally think it’s a game.. but I’m guessing I did it a time or 2 as a kid.. (yes, Hayden got caught not being in his seatbelt correctly)

Lynlee thinks they’re hilarious…

After the trek up the mountain… We are here!!

3:00pm we made it to Ridgewood Condos!
We rented Unit #69, through airbnb. Wanda is the groundkeeper for the units. She let us know there is no trailer parking at the condos, but helped us figure out a way to park it for the weekend. She was very nice and helpful!

She reminds us we want to get in and open doors/windows.. our unit doesn’t have any AC!! It is hott today.. it is going to be real warm inside as we are on 3rd floor, top floor of the condos! Thankfully, this is the warmest day so the rest shouldn’t be too bad!
🥵 Yes it is warm inside!! but it cools off so much at night, it’ll be fine! We aren’t complaining about any heat because we’ve had cold races all year minus Florida so we will take it!!
How about a photo tour of the condo!
David unloads the truck, and I unpack inside to get settled in quick before our evening begins!
4:50pm head up to the Mountain Lodge to sign Hayden in for GNCC University!
Hayden and I ride our e-bikes up the paved walking/bike trail to the village. David, Luke, and Lynlee will meet us at the Mountain Lodge.. they are riding on David’s utility 4-wheeler with helmets.
Last year we stayed at Expedition Station right in the village, it was easy to walk right over to the university. However, we all voted for more space and being out of the village this year.
😍🥰.. oh how I miss the beautiful scenery!!

Hayden and I spend a couple hours at the University listening to the plan for the next 2 days.
Looks like the storms are moving in this evening.. David took the other kids back to the condo to eat.. We are about 1 mile from the condo on our bikes.. Don’t really think it sounds fun to ride a bicycle in a thunderstorm 😬 at the level of 4848😳
8:30pm back to the condo for the night!

We made it back to the condo and packed bikes back into the trailer just in time.. Lots of rain!!! IT IS GOING TO BE MUDDY for the University tomorrow!! Super thankful the rain cooled our condo from 86 degrees to 72, we can get rested!
GOODNIGHT💤
THURSDAY
7:00am Rise and Shine!! ☀️ The sun is shining bright this morning! A little chilly in the high 50s but warming up nicely today!
We are thankful it cooled off so much with the rain!! We were able to cool the condo, and got a good nights rest!
7:30am Out to our balcony to check out the wildlife.. there were also ground hogs, rabbits, squirrels .. just hanging out.. nice and peaceful!
7:45AM Hayden and David are off for day 1 of GNCC University!!
Luke, Lynlee, and I are slowly getting around waking up, getting breakfast..
Hayden is out living his best life..
Luke is here trying to live his best life stacking up wood to build a fire in the INDOOR FIREPLACE… I do a lot to try to entertain each child with their dreams.. BUT
Luke, I’m sorry.. there’s no building a fire this weekend.. it’s summer and there is no AC.. we can’t make it 100 degrees in here 😞
So… he’s not a very happy little boy for a little bit .. then he entertained himself just building it up anyway in hopes it might get cold enough for a fire..
I finished preparing peanut butter bananas to stick in the freezer for snacks..

Meanwhile I pack the cooler with lunch! Pepperoni rolls, carrots, cucumbers, spinach dip, cheese chunks, and bottles of water, a perfect picnic lunch.
10:30am Pack up our cooler and take off with the stroller to the village to get on the ski lift.
I am loving being in a condo and walking to and from the village .. you can see and hear the university riders across the mountain top in the fields ..

And then a walk through the trees…

Ride the ski lift down to the lake area where we will meet David and Hayden for lunch.
Down We Go! Takin’ in the ride and views..

We have almost an hour before Hayden will be in for lunch so we hang out at the lake playground and play in the sand!

We hear all the ATVs cruisin’ in for lunch at the Boathouse!

The Boathouse isn’t open to the public this year.. hence one reason we are having a packed lunch..

Hayden had a hot lunch and of coarse he found dessert included with his University!!

Yes, they are super muddy as we expected after the rain last night! This will be fun cleaning gear before race day! 😬
Refueled and ready for more! .. They are off for the afternoon! …
Luke wants to go check this University out.. he’s off with David … me and Lynlee girl get the afternoon to ourselves! .. and it’s her nap time! 😄

back up the ski lift with sis, get the stroller and start the walk back to the condo.. it’s perfect temps here for walks.. not too hot, not cold..it is awesome!
We are almost back to the condo when a conversation with a lady sitting outside her RV began.. she is here to watch a couple of her grandson’s race.. we talk about our racers.. camping in general.. snacks and food for kids, and whatever else came up! We spent a good 30 minutes chatting.. #gnccnation… top reason I love racing! Lynlee had a fallen asleep in the stroller so she got her nap in while we chatted.. win win!
We make it back to the condo.. this is how us girls refuel on a Thursday afternoon after miles of walking ….

A little more of my prep work paid off.. homemade chocolate chip muffins! 😋
A little after 5:00pm Hayden has returned for a few short minutes to shower, clean up, and head back to the Mountain Lodge for dinner with the University at 6:15pm!
A few pics David snapped throughout the day ..
Meanwhile, I’m trying to finish dinner for us.. My plan was to make homemade GF BBQ chicken pizza with a new GF bread flour I found… WELL.. I forgot the yeast…won’t be getting any dough without yeast! … so good thing we have extra tortilla chips … chicken tacos it is! Looking like tacos all weekend now! 🤷🏼♀️
I tell David that he’ll have to take Luke and Lynlee to the Stacyc race at 6:00p
while I go with Hayden to the university.
David packs Stacyc on 4 wheeler and they are off…
Hayden and I ride ebikes up to the Mountain Lodge... and there’s David parked on the corner of the Lodge.. how about today is Thursday.. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤣🤪 Whhooppps!! 🤣🤣 No there is no Stacyc race tonight.. How about tomorrow! I was thinking today was Friday.. my bad! … 🤣🤣
Oh well.. David can leave the 4 wheeler parked and they can go for a ride around the village and trails on bikes.
Hayden and I head into the University for his dinner and stations. This year he has quite a few race friends in the university with him which is awesome!

They are quite the crew!!! A lot of fun with these kids together!

Look at this kid eating LASAGNA!! 😱🫣 That doesn’t have peanut butter in it!? … I dunno who talked him into putting lasagna on his plate but THANK YOU!! Oh my goodness he tried something new and he likes it!! Maybe just MAYBE someday he will decide to eat a variety of foods! 🤷🏼♀️
The instructors have decided to wait until morning for stations…so … 12 hours in today.. we are ready to head back to the condo!

Good night race friends .. get some rest!
7:30pm back to the condo. David has talked to Wanda and she says we can use the garden hose beside her house to spray out gear! Yay!
Spray, Scrub with Dawn, scrub off all the mudd, rinse, spray again, and into the washer! Nice to have the laundry in our condo this year for this reason! Ready for tomorrow!
We take a walk back to the village.. just to stroll around.. and back the trail in time to catch the sunsetting… 😍

Back to the condo..and That’s a wrap for Thursday! Time for a goodnight’s rest and onto day 2 of GNCC Univeristy!
GOODNIGHT💤
FRIDAY
7:00AM Rise & Shine again!! Ready for day 2.. start time 8:00am! A little cool again this morning but sun is shining and warming up quickly!
Hayden.. terribly grumpy this morning.. not enough to eat or sleep, I dunno but 😳.. ask what he wants for breakfast .. after 4-5 times asking .."PEANUT BUTTER BALLS".. like he's already said it 5 times ..
He ask to wear his Fox gear.. Ok that’s great then I won’t have to scrub the Fly gear again before race day! (but yesterday Fox gear was too small!? never said that out loud, you just go with the flow sometimes and let it be) …then he says it doesn’t fit right, and he won’t be able to ride.. so I tell him to take if off and put his Fly riding gear back on .. it has been washed/dried!
No because you said I had to wear this so I just won’t be able to ride!
Ok, No I never once said you had to wear the Fox gear, either change or get on your way, you have 5 minutes! There’s no argument here!
The peanut butter balls are dry.. not eating them! 😑 Seriously boy..we are here to have a good time why are you so mad.. please tell us! I know we all have bad days but let's hope it doesn't effect his day riding!
Well I did forget to put milk in the peanut butter balls, my bad, but no need to yell about it.. I’ll fix them.
PB Balls back into the bowl, add milk, stir, reshape into balls.. now get to the Lodge before you‘re late! 😒 and please come back in a better mood..
Luke, Lynlee, and I get to moving, laundry, dishes, clean up. Getting dinner going in the crock pot.

Hey girl! You were supposed to eat on the tile floor.. not the carpet.. you said what mom!?
11:00am back from University with 30 minutes to change clothes and get back to the Mountain Lodge for the graduation ceremony!
David cleaning helmet, boots, chest protector, googles and all so it can be dry for morning race!
12:00pm Hayden and I head into the GNCC University ceremony for the conclusion of this years session. Meanwhile, David takes Luke and Lynlee down the ski lift to the playground.

The instructors give out their specialty awards!
and then we are outside for an ATV group photo...

That was another year of GNCC University with awesome experiences!! Now it's time to get RACE READY!! Tomorrow morning will come fast!
We all ride back to condo, time for lunch!
2:00pm David and Hayden leave to walk the youth track with Bryson, Stratton, and others... that'll be a nice intense walk here on the mountain 😬!

and this is our afternoon plan while they are out sendin those mountains! Lynlee needs a nap... BUT no she don't think so as she drags the entire bag of Vanilla Wafers over to me... Please mom!
5:00PM David and Hayden made it back...barely 🤣... it's still a little warm outside when climbing ski slopes! 🤣
We all head up to the village to registration.. and YES tonight it is time for the Stacyc race!! #210 is ready to race the village track! It is so cool, they set up their track in the center of the village.

The boys are hungry and they don't eat pork tacos.. Hayden wants pizza and CHEESECAKE! He is all set on the fact dessert the night before a race brings his best finishes.. and cheesecake is his favorite, it will bring another top 5 as he is bribing for cheesecake!

We all have a seat outside the Old Sprue.. I decided I might as well have cheesecake with him.. and Luke has to have whatever Hayden has or it isn't fair!... David doesn't want to be left out.. cookie ice cream sandwich to share with Lynlee it is!

We are all feeling pretty tired and want to have a good night's rest as race time tomorrow is 8AM! .. we head back to the condo for our dinner, the pork taco's that have been cooking in the crock pot all day... 😋
Showers and calling it a day!! See ya bright and early!!
GOODNIGHT 💤
SATURDAY
6:00AM rise and shine! Foggy morning, cool, but soon as the sun comes up it will be warm! It's race day!! #721 let's get moving!
7:20am David and Hayden are ready to go! They head up to line up .. here at Snowshoe they line up on the main road ..This year Hayden is row 21, 2nd row of 5 in his class, there are 3 rows for the ATV 125 (8-12) total.
Meanwhile, here I come pushing the bike trailer to the top of Snowshoe mountain with a 44 and a 25 pounder! .... and YES ...
Luke still hates 8AM races …

Lynlee isn't looking real thrilled either.. let's get the race vibes going to cheer these 2 up...

Here we go.. Prayer and the 🇺🇸National Anthem...
Teeeeennn Seconds!!! Youth ATV's are off to ride the mountain! Who will claim the mountain!?
First row of the ATV 125 class is off.. 😱😱😱 a rider got a tire caught in the fence of turn 1 and flipped his ATV.. there's a hold up between row 1 & 2.. My stomach is flip flopping all around praying he is ok.. he is assisted over trackside ... seems he is ok..
Continuous prayers that everyone races safe!! 😰 this is going to seem like the longest race ever...(I know I say that a lot.. they never get any shorter 😅) David says it is a fast track for him but also so many rocks that can really do damage if you would get into them!
and then they do another 10 seconds to prepare the next row... row 21 here we go....
Hayden takes off first in his row! 😅
I head on over by the finish to watch.. it's really the best place for me to watch here with the kids...I can push this bicycle trailer around .. but I don't think I'm taking it on any mountain trails today!
... the sun is shining now!! Time to loose the sweat shirts and jackets!! .. wow 🥵 I can feel the burn on my arms!

Big change from all fog to bright and sunny within minutes!
Here comes Hayden for lap 1!.. checks in 3rd! Yay, let's keep it in the top 5, he's riding awesome!
I'm visiting with race friends and cheering on their kids as well... Luke and Lynlee have decided to come alive as they play in a dirt pile with a few other kids...
Lap 2 checks in 4th! Looking good out there!
No good cell service here.. I try to send David updates on his position as he's out on his ebike somewhere on the mountain chasing through the trees to make sure Hayden is still on the track.. Messages not delivered... of coarse..
Lap 3.... he checks in first!!! 😱🤗🫣 Awesome!!! Oh but now is when us parents get super nervous.. as if my stomach wasn't already flip flopping since the start of the race!... he's out there, can he keep it.. 2nd seems to be 26 second behind... please don't get into any rocks/trees..
Lap 4 here he comes.. I dunno if he's still in first or not .. I think so but now all the blue helmet stickers are mixed throughout the track so it's easy to miss one ....
Yay!! Still in first and white flag is out!!! 1 more lap.. the dreaded longest lap there is!! 2nd is catching him.. 8 seconds behind.. they've been getting 12 minute laps... so that'll be like at least an hour in mom race time! 😬
A few minutes later David has made his way to the finish... we are both in amazement.. David says he is riding so awesome!! Then he leads into telling me how nervous he has been because of the accidents he's seen with kids flippng over handle bars after hitting rocks... and I'm like OKOK Wait until later for this conversation!!!!
Now I am literatelly counting the seconds that he should be expected in... I'm pretty sure something happenened he should be coming.. we are 4 seconds past his last check in time at this point...
12 minutes and 10 seconds since the white flag ... there comes that Yamaha blue helmet!! 😅😅

Finishing 1st out of 14 today claiming the mountain for the ATV 125 (8-12) class!
We leave the stroller and the bike on the hillside...pick up Lynlee, and all run around to the other side of the finish to give high fives, hugs, and all the exciting congrats!

The racer that flipped his bike at the start pulls off the track .. David sees his parents.. we all go over to see if he is ok and congratulate him on his finish.. so awesome of him to get back out there and finish the race after that!
We gather all our belongings and head over to the podium!

Hayden struggled a little with his podium speech today but that's ok.. I'd rather that then have him reading from a phone.. he'll get it all eventually!! Sorry GBC.. GBC, Not GBC 😂.. we explained he can say GBC as he always races GBC tires and claims they are the reason he can ride all terrains!!
Race results from GNCC Racing

We hang out to watch our race friends podiums as well!! They have all had a pretty great week!!
Going home with tons of #yamaha #bLUcRU swag and an awesome #gnccracing Snowshoe trophy!
We head back to our condo... I dunno about ya'll but we are starving after all that action!! LUNCH PLEASE!!
After lunch, David & Hayden take off walking to Howard’s Hole for the XC1 pro race... I'm NOT taking Luke and Lynlee miles into the woods.. or that whole mess from what I've seen in videos/pics.. actually I don't really want Hayden going either but that's a battle I'm not winning today. 🤷🏼♀️ ... I have a video below from David to show you a little about Howard's Hole.. BUT if you want to full scoop on that.. you tube search Howard's Hole Snowshoe GNCC 🫣🫣🫣!

This is my view from racertv.com to make sure that my husband and kid isn't out there doing the belly flop in the middle of the track!! 😂 No the definitly aren't they went for their own entertainment of watching the others..
Luke, Lynlee, and I hang out at the condo, we were going to head up to the village to ride the ski lift down to the lake. BUT rain showers & thunder is in the near future!!..We'll just stay nice and dry here, listen and watch the pro race on RacerTV!

and.... there's the rain...
4:00pm David and Hayden make it back from the pro race.. shower and clean up after being drenched...
The rain has stopped and the evening is looking clear.. We decide to walk up to the village for an afternoon Starbuck’s, and walk around a few shops.

Lynlee girl fought her nap off long enough.. the stroller ride done her in!
Hayden is riding around the village on his bike.. Luke, yep, here he comes into Starbucks with a stick to take back to the condo..
We haven't taken any family photo ops here with the amazing backgrounds so a few minutes for pics...
and then we decide to blunder around into a few shops as we head back to our condo to warm up our left over pork tacos for dinner!
No, Hayden isn't doing any shopping...
WELL these few days went so fast!! After dinner it is time to head back to clean up, and pack up to head home tomorrow! another round in the books!
GOODNIGHT💤
SUNDAY
Up by 8am.. No sleeping in this trip! We need to checkout by 10am... No time for breakfast here this morning..There is a large amount of rain moving in..should we take the chance to walk to the village!? ... We can't drive up, there is no parking with dirt bike races going on.. and the road is blocked at times for the starts. This mom is not leaving without food so ...
We finish packing up, check out, and walk to the Village for breakfast.. we got umbrellas I'm not scared! We make it just in time to cross the road before the WXC take off! ... We might as well stand and watch for a few!
We can see the rain clouds coming!! ... We better get moving...

We decide on the Junction for breakfast..It was yummy! Luke found an awesome fireplace inside.. that made his day!

Rain has held off while we ate... it is coming quick now.. will we make it back..!? 😬

I'm gonna say that's a NO.. we definitely are going to get wet!!... WALK FAST!!

😳 That is looking scary like a terenchal downpour!! 😳...Well we made it about half way.. David gets an umbrella and takes off running with the stroller ...
and here I am jogging with my umbrella!! I don't really know that it is helping at all with the water splashing up my legs and blowing... but I'm almost there!! 🏃🏼♀️and not very dry..
The boys ran to the stairway to get undercover hoping it would slack off...
It's been a while, and no, doesn't look like its going to let up anytime soon! So the boys all brave the downpour to get the stroller back into the trailer!!
Just a little wet.... not bad! 🤣🤣

After an awesome weekend here at Snowshoe, we are on the road to home! It is summer break for the 2022 GNCC series... we aren't ready as we just had a 6 week break 😔... anyway we have tons of plans with MoJo during the summer break!
A few miles down the road and these kiddos are
Snowshoe WASTED!

Stay tuned for all our summer MoJo adventures!! We'll be back in September for the final 4 rounds of the 2022 GNCC!!
