Here we are the first week of March! It has been crazy weather here in Ohio.. 50s one day then 30s the next! We are ready to bail out of Ohio for a week!! 🥶

Where we going!? We are off to Round 2 of the 2022 GNCC the Wild Boar in Palatka, FL!! and then a camground stay in Savannah GA.. the next weekend is the General in Washington, GA!

If you have been following along with our GNCC adventures you’ll know last year at Wild Boar we had a great race.. but getting to the track and the night after the race weren’t so great! I’ll tag last years Wild Boar at the bottom of this one if you want to catch up!

SO this year it took a lot of talking, BUT David loves us and it was 3 against 1…….If Lynlee could have her input it would be 4 - 1!

WE ARE TAKING MOJO!! Yay!

Camper at the track = Happy momma & kids!!

The truck went back to the shop and is supposed to be good to go! Hopefully we don’t run into snail mode with the camper this trip!! At least we’ll have a place to sleep if we do! 😂 Might as well laugh about it, and the giant e-bike is all tuned up and good to go with tubeless tire system. (Hayden had WAY to many flats last year!)

The Monday of race week we pulled MoJo from storage back to home. We are leaving Thursday after school! Driving 9 hours to Georgia, then we’ll park, sleep and finish the 3 hour drive in the morning.

Still no ride time for Hayden.. there’s been so much snow the fields at home are a mess..We feel bad because he’s not getting his best chance for a good start to the season not getting seat time. 😔 We can’t just miss school to go south to practice.. So we deal with it and really pray for better weather at home!

Monday night David filled the tanks with water.. made sure everything still works! Had the bikes loaded because we can’t load them when it’s parked beside the house. I’ve got the dining room full of race gear, food, blankets, swim clothes, beach towels.. everything we took out for winter storage. I made muffins to take last weekend.. they are in the freezer ready to go!

ree

and then Tuesday afternoon we get a phone call that Grandpa Kenny Kuhn has passed away. That wasn’t expected of coarse. 😢 We’ll see what happens as the week goes before we make any decisions on cancelling or going later.

ree

New plan is to stay home until after the funeral.. we’ll leave Friday afternoon once the funeral is over, drive straight through and we should make the race!

Grandpa Kenny is a huge Nascar Fan, Grandpa Steve was also a NASCAR fan.. Hayden gained both of their love for racing but turned it into ATV Woods racing! I know there aren’t trees in NASCAR but maybe gpa Kenny you could help keep Hayden out of the trees and on the track this year!!

This will be the first time Hayden races without biking his track first! Maybe a good thing .. maybe a really bad idea.. we dunno.. we shall see tomorrow!

FRIDAY

1:15PM we pick the boys up from school, head home to roll out with the truck and camper! The camper was hooked up and ready to go this morning.

2:04pm we are loaded down and on the road for a 12 hour drive ahead!

Kids are ready to go! We get out the Roadside Bingo as we are driving through Charleston WV.. ok 3 BINGOs in like 10 minutes.. we should play when we aren’t in the city.. Luke’s crying because he needed a barn to get a BINGO.. Nope no barns seen in Charleston!

9:00pm ..we just stopped for fuel, snacks, and bathroom breaks.. boys are ready to sleep!… Oh no.. not Lynlee! She don’t go to bed much before 11:00pm!! Nap, no nap, short nap, early nap.. doesn‘t matter!? 😩

11:15PM .. It’s after 11.. Lynlee is finally sleeping!! and the boys have been resting for over an hour. We kinda like this driving.

Midnight.. about 3 hours to go! Last stop for fuel.. Can we make it tonight/early morning!? …..

There’s the Welcome to Florida Sign!! 😅

David has prepared himself for this 12 hour straight drive with a camper so we got this!

SATURDAY

Then the last hour hits… the time and miles aren’t moving … 😴

3:20am There‘s the gate!! Sleep until 6:00am!

ree

Pull in and park along the road.. a few campers ahead of us. Put our bedroom slide out and the boys crash on the couch. Thankfully it is warm here so the camper isn’t freezing.. perfect temps!

ree

6:00am Let’s roll through the gates to our camping lot! We are ever so grateful & thankful for race friends that were able to have room for us to slide in with them! Liz with Pro-graphx, the Weddles & Dickersons! It worked out perfect! Can’t thank them enough this morning. Anyone in the GNCC nation knows if you pull in Saturday morning it’s not easy to find a lot to park.. and we have electric hook up, no generator running!!

It is nice and flat here in Florida so besides backing between 2 trees, set up is a breeze. Or so I thought.. I had Lynlee in the camper and David yells your good to put the slides out! Ok, ……………………

I dunno 15 minutes later, there’s David at the door….

You opened the bedroom slide into the bed of my truck!!

umm… excuse me!? YOU told me it was good so no I didn’t look!?

Well we aren’t going to say who did what or who‘s fault it really is.. I mean we are both going on 2 hours of sleep after driving all night and have the adrenaline going to be ready in time to race.. AND that is one of the things that happens in a hurry.

What had happened is the slide was clear.. then David decided to back his truck up further to be out of the road more, and didn‘t think about backing it up far enough the slide was going to open into it. So now we have a dent on the bedside of the truck right on the crease. No sense in ruining the day/week over it.. put the slide back in.. move the truck.. put it back out and worry about it later.

Throw on my hat and make up over make up because it’s race season! Another thing I love about race moms!! We can have hats and no make-up, have plenty of time and fix our hair and make-up or anything in between… there’s never any judging!

Lynlee is ready for a stroller ride and Luke is on his Stacyc!

Hayden is stoked.. New GBC tires and DWT wheels made it just in time! He loved the Wild Boar last year.. however this year seems a lot different! Last year it was a swamp mess.. this year it is extremely dry..dusty sand!

8:45AM he is off to the start! Sun is shining bright! It is warm!

ree

and then Luke, Lynlee, and I are off to find our spot to watch around turn 1..

ree

RACE READY or as ready as we can be considering ..

ree

There’s Ricky with the prayer to keep out kids safe, and let them have fun (there’s a lot more in his prayer.. it is excellent)

National Anthem… and they are ready to be off here at the Wild Boar GNCC ….

Teeeennnn Seconds!!

There’s Hayden in 2nd around turn 1! Then had to go wider than he planned costing him a few positions.. went into the woods in 5th or 6th.

We head on over to the finish area.. there isn’t very many sections you can see much here.. my phone doesn’t have service to text David so that means my hang out is scoring!

On our way over we stop by a straight we can see..here he comes with 2 on his tail! Better speed it up! It is his first lap so I’m glad to see he isn’t going crazy until he knows what to expect.. as much as he wants to be top 5 he also wants to be safe!

Luke and Lynlee are having a blast in the sand… they are such a mess! Good thing we got an outdoor water hose on the camper! (Luke clearly didn’t want his picture taken, nor would he wear his race tshirt 😒)

Lynlee supporting big brother with her race shirt by Pro-graphX

Checks in 7th on lap 1!! Nice clean lap!

Yay! I’m not sitting here wondering where he’s at for once! I can get used to this! Maybe not seeing the track was ok!?

Lap 2 checks in 10th.. We are hoping he can at least hold a top 10 or even gain a few back.

White flag is out .. looks like a 3 lap race today!

and another clean lap.. Finishing 9th out of 19!

ree

Stacy Mundy Photography awesome shots!!

ree

Yes, he really wants a top 5, considering the circumstances driving all through the night, not seeing the track, lack of seat time, we’ll take a top 10 finish for sure!

ree

Results from GNCC Racing

ree

Back to the camper, obviously to take it easy and do NOTHING!! Likely I’m taking a nap with Lynlee girl!

It’s camping right on the full sandy beach.. BUT NO water NO waves.. just dust a lot of dust when you walk in the sand… looks pretty though!

ree

The boys are having a great time playing in the sand.. between all of us we got plenty kids to run around!! Luke is really excited to have friends his age to play with!

ree

Well the last 72 hours have been exhausting to say the least, it’s bedtime!! Hopefully for a night of sleep that you wake up and don’t even know where you are!? Refreshed and ready for a fun week ahead!

GOODNIGHT 💤

SUNDAY

Good Morning!! Yes, we all slept awesome and feel good as new! and we have no where to be at any time today! Sweet!

Sun shining ☀️ the heat feels so good!

Lynlee is living life to the fullest with her Powerade popcicle at 21 months old!

ree

I know, she’s filthy mess from the sand and she loves it!

The boys… the same .. a mess as they all play together. They want to see how deep of a whole they can dig!

The track goes behind our campers .. we carry our chairs over to sit & watch the pro bikes… here come 1st, 2nd, & 3rd!

After the pro race the boys want a treat… we all take a walk over to vendor row to see if the ice cream truck is still here!

Yay! They are still open! Hmm … do we want an ice cream sundae, milkshake, root beer float (🤢 Root Beer is nasty, David and the boys.. they love it), or slushie!?

ree

Yes you are seeing eating with black hands 🤷🏼‍♀️ judge if you want. If they aren’t touching their food I don’t get excited…

After racing was done, I walked the track behind our camper.. Hayden wanted to show me sand berms, the roots and rough sections, a few tight spots, and sections that were fun.. This section does look like a super fun track to ride...

It has been a nice relaxing, revamp kinda day! I think we’ll top it off with a Hibachi dinner on the Blackstone! 😋

Meanwhile.. the boys .. yep they are still digging…

ree

Ok boys… that is deep enough! It’s time for showers and bed! … I don’t even want them in my camper shower.. good thing I brought cleaner.. my white shower will be black by the looks of these kiddos! .. here we go cleaning on day #2!

GOODNIGHT💤

MONDAY

Good Morning!! YES! Another hot sunny day!!☀️ We decided to hang out another day at the track.

Our race friends are still camping here as well.. we are going to let the kids practice riding this morning before heading out this afternoon!

ree

We didn’t realize we couldn’t ride here as GNCC staff was cleaning up.. oops Sorry!! We went back to our camping area. Our race friends and Brandon Owens (XC2 rider) helped find an area they could ride… David said it is hard because the trails split off everywhere here… and…

ree

We don’t want our kids lost in the 1,000 acres with the snakes 🐍 and gators🐊😳!!

and they are all off to make a track to practice… it is so dry and dusty!

ree

The guys got the dust control out… at least enough to keep it from dust bombing our campers!

They were all having a good time riding..thankful Hayden got in a few hours of seat time! The race bike was getting hot so he had to get the stock bike out… He says the whoops in Florida aren’t for the stock bike! 😂

All 3 kids have really enjoyed the weekend with the Weddle boys and the Dickerson’s and hope we can park with them more.. racing is more than a race!!

We have campground reservations to make in Savannah, Georgia tonight! We are finishing packing/loading up to head out.

It’s about a 3 hour drive, half way between the Wild Boar and The General that is next weekend!

2:30PM I think we are loaded… just need to hook up the truck! ….

I’m finishing up the inside when David comes to the door..

I have bad news… umm… our camper hitch is cracked..
Are you kidding me!? We can’t go anywhere like that??

We search camper dealers in the area.. the closest place that would have a hitch available.. New Horizon RV is 16 miles!

David calls first to see if they have a hitch similar to what we have.. Not exactly like we have but it will have to do! We have to get it to the dealer in order to get it switched out.. we don’t have the tools with us to go get it and put it on ourselves 😳😰… so we say a prayer and here we go.. thankfully all town driving, no highway.

New Horizon had 4.7 ⭐️ on google.. when the gps says we have arrived.. I’m not gonna lie I’m like did we put that in right!? I guess I’m used to General RV and Camping Worlds so I expected a big place… well we’ll see what they got!

ree

They have something that will work.. it isn’t an equalizer like we have but it does have the sway bars.. we don’t have much choice .. hopefully it will pull ok!

The staff were extremely nice and helpful!! They came right out and helped get it set up, David wasn’t sure how to set this one up.. they stopped what they were doing on their schedule to help get us back on the road. Couldn’t of ask for nicer people or better service!! We were thankful and glad to help out a small owned business.

ree

A little over an hour and we are back on the road! On our way to Savannah Georgia for a fun week ahead!! We’ve had a few bumps along the way this week, but we are still positive that we can enjoy our week in Savannah!!

Ya’ll know it took me a lot of talking to get to bring the camper.. all this plan I had how it would save us money staying at the track, no extra hotel cost for 5 of the nights, a campground is cheaper on the 3 nights we need a place, food, me having some food prepared before we left, blah blah I had a nice list…. and then….

Diesel is now $5.25-$5.45/ gal 😳… $$$ a new camper hitch… and we are only 3 days in on our 10 day trip😳 Thanks, Thanks for helping me prove a camper would be cheaper 😒..

Stay tuned as our family fun in Savannah and more GNCC racing is coming soon!!

Thanks for Reading!!❤️
