It is the middle of August, and summer break is almost over! We just can’t take sitting at home the weekend before school starts! Surprisingly, David found us a camping lot at Mohican Adventures. Campgrounds have been so booked lately!
THURSDAY
Thursday afternoon the camper is loaded and we are ready to head north for the weekend! It is looking like a nice warm sunny weekend!
Only about 1 hour 45 minutes.. that’s like driving next door for us! 😂 It was an quick easy set up as the lots are pretty level. Mohican Adventures Campground & Cabins
Here is the campground Map copied from their site for reference ☺️

BUT David left out the information that we were in like a buddy site.. without a buddy camper.. 😒 Not gonna lie I was not happy! I’m like dude you have no idea who's gonna come rollin‘ in here beside us sharing our yard 😳.. little scared!

You see the empty drive.. any size camper/RV can come rolling in here in front of us with their camper facing ours! It would be awesome if our friends were coming! Well not much I can do now, there aren’t any other spots open so let’s pray for the best case scenerio here. I like meeting people from all around while we are camping but this is a bit close for my comfort! We are in lot 2005 if you need that for a reference on the campground map if you‘re planning a visit. The outer loop lots are awesome.. the middle isn’t for me!
We are ordering dinner tonight... the Trails End Restaurant is right beside the campground entrance. That’ll be easy!

They don’t deliver.. so David did have to drive up to get it.. we are a ways back in the campground. Not a big deal.. few minutes later he was back with our pizza! YUM! Definitely recommend trying it if your in the area for an easy lunch or supper.
Hayden is still on his fishing kick so he’s off to the small lakes to see what he can catch!

A bike ride around the campground, hanging out with Lynlee playing on the camper rug .. taking it easy for the evening. Yea that doesn’t get to happen often!
There is a larger playground with a pavilion, volleyball, basketball, and other amenities. This trip we were hanging out in the back, and taking it easy..I slacked on pictures of the campground itself!
FRIDAY
Good Morning!! Loving the sunshine and no chance of rain kind of day! Today’s plan!? ☀️😎 (thankfully no one has pulled in as our neighbor yet)
Rafting down the Mohican!
Mohican Adventures Canoe and Livery fun center is across the road from the campground. On our visit here a few years ago David and Hayden did the 1 hour blue aerial coarse. This year we here just for rafting! Once the kids are older I’d love to do kyaks on the 15 mile trip!
With 7 mile rafting trip as the plan we want to have a nice breakfast before we go! My favorite camping breakfast… throw it all in the cast iron skillet on the grill and good to go! Not for the boys.. here we are scooping out Greek yogurt .. mixing in peanut butter!
We are packing up the cooler to take on the raft with us.. some water, Gatorade, snacks, and dressed in our swim clothes ready to go! We did drive across the street to park.. We had a good bit to carry it all. If you would be camping in the front of the campground it would be easier to walk.

Let’s go Rafting!

Things were going to smoothly so we aren’t getting on that raft without a fight! Hayden and the life jacket.. the kid is claustrophobic and life jackets don’t go well! I know he knows how to swim pretty well, but in a river it makes me nervous so I’m trying to keep my strict guard up. He at least has it on as we start to see how it is. We did this a few years ago and it was really calm so he might be ok. He’s not happy but he’ll get over it once we start 💁🏼♀️
AND we are on our way down the river for a 7 mile trip ☀️😎

Ok.. now no one knows how to row at the same time.. we are in the branches.. rocks.. 🤦🏼♀️ Didn‘t take too long and we had it figured out.. That’s looking better.. there’s a few little rapids.. I dunno maybe their to small to be rapids but the boys liked it!

Our best try at getting us all in the picture..

We didn’t want to get to the end too fast so we would float with the river for a bit.. then row some... the boys wanted to make a stop to skip rocks..
Lynlee has had enough .. its time for her nap… the boys are in the cooler and snack bag.. it’s only been 2 hours since we ate.. Honestly, I’m surprised they didn’t grab something as soon as we were loaded in the boat! 🤷🏼♀️
Thankfully the river isn‘t real busy today.. that is why we came today and not tomorrow! We’ve heard it can get a little wild on Saturday‘s so obviously with the kids we opted for the less wilder!
We didn’t run into any issues.. yea people are drinking alcohol as they float down the river but no one that we ran into was obscene or inappropriate. Just folks out to have a good time!
Say hello to the friendly campers that sit along the river at their campsites watching rafters float by!
Along the way.. there’s a few food trailer stops.. closer to the end of the 7 miles there’s a stop called Arrowpoint patio that we docked at to grab ice cream, and take a break. This is a part of a campground but any rafters are welcomed!
We are off to finish our river trip… it’s been about 3 hours since we started! The boys have their squirters out looking for people to attack.. and one is mad because the other squirted him without his approval 🙅🏼♀️ Dad brought the squirters.. leaving that battle up to him! 😂 kids we are on the river who cares who got who wet .. just don’t get the entire boat wet!
Float… and row.. float.. and row… we’re stuck.. there’s a rock! Hayden gets out to help break us loose… and then of coarse he’s been confined way too long…

He’s decided to run along the raft rather than riding…. We’ll see how that works when there’s a drop off … we did get stuck a few times through here it was pretty shallow… then we got back in to row a little..

I think it was about a 4 hour trip down the river with stopping! It is marked for you to dock at the end up on a rock bank. There’s Mohican adventures staff there to drag your raft out and reload it to be hauled back to the launch area. We wait on the benches until the bus comes back around to pick us up for a ride back.
….. Where’s my wallet!? I dunno It was in the backpack? I don’t see it?…we empty the backpack.. no wallet.. are you serious?? No one else claims to of seen David’s wallet.. the only place we had it out was at Arrow Point?! I’m guessing it’s at Arrow Point or at least it was there.. I’m sure someone’s picked it up by now .. hopefully they are a loyal person.
David calls Arrow Point.. talks to the owners, no one has turned in a gray wallet. He tells the lady where he may of left it: on the bench outside where we were eating.. nope not there. Ok, they’ll call us if they find it.
There’s the bus.. we load up to head back. At this point we both think someone has likely stolen it!
We get back to the launch area and David is in a hurry to get everyone in the truck.. we drive back to Arrow Point in the truck to make sure the wallet isn’t laying somewhere .. back track everywhere we were there… we had went over to a setup for a picture.. David was holding Lynlee up to see her head and thinks maybe he laid it down there.. nope not there..

Believe it or not … there it is!! Laying out in the open on a picnic table! I can’t believe it! Thankfully honest people left it lay for us to come back and find it! That’s a huge relief.. the weekend was just about ruined!
Ok .. let’s get back to the camper for the evening! I have super to cook.. and who knows what kind of camper pulled in or will be pulling in this evening!
Hayden met a friend named Chase he has been fishing with this weekend. He is camping with his mom in a tent out by the first lake. Hayden is excited to go see if he wants to fish a little more this evening before it gets dark! I don’t think they’ve had much luck yet. They’ve tried different bait, hot dogs, live worms.. who know what else!
Luke, of coarse is ready for a fire and s’mores! It’s been a little bit since our last camping trip! He didn’t get any smore‘s in Tennessee!!
By the way we did have neighbors when we came back.. a smaller camper that pulled clear over so we were sort of half and half .. it was a couple with no kids with them.. they did have dogs but that’s no issue! Now I’m worried we’ll be too loud 🤦🏼♀️!
They are very nice.. no worries.. started talking about our hauler asking how we liked it .. they had just gotten a new camper. Come to find out he knows alll about racing and then David and the guy have quite the racing conversation.
All in all that worked out with no issues thankfully!
Time for showers after being in the river all day and bed to rest up for tomorrow!! Goodnight 💤
SATURDAY
Good Morning!! It is nice and sunny again today!☀️ We plan to hang out at the campground today.. there is plenty for everyone to do here!
Lynlee and I went for stroll around.. some is gravel and some is concrete..
I find Hayden cruising the shallow creek that runs along the road by our campsite…

The thing is.. he has on those bright orange Hurley trunks that I don’t want to scrub mud water out of 😒… he wasn’t supposed to put those on until we were on our way to the indoor pool to swim!
Of coarse he’s on his way.. He is going to ask his buddy if he could swim with us.. his mom was making plans for them but Chase really wanted to swim so she rearranged their plans so that Hayden and Chase could swim!
The indoor pool area:
We spent a few of the afternoon hours swimming.. then back to chilling at the camper.. eating.. talking to the neighbors.. nothing real exciting!
Hayden and Chase are still fishing.. They have caught a couple blue gills in the pond! No luck in the lake.
There’s a few nice playgrounds we easily could walk to for Luke and Lynlee to play. The bigger playground was pretty busy.
Dinner at the camper.. another fire.. smore’s … and Luke is one happy camper this weekend!
A relaxing day for David and I, but fun filled day for the kids 👌 Goodnight! 💤
SUNDAY
Good Morning!! Hayden is up and off to try to catch a giant fish..it really impresses me he can find the patience for this when I don’t see patience with much else for him.. so I let him fish away for hours all weekend!
We took our time getting breakfast, packing up and getting ready for the ride home.
As we were leaving the Chase's mom thanked us for letting Hayden hang with them and gave us a snapshot she had taken of them:

12:00pm we are on the road again.. home bound to get ready for the first day of school! Hayden is a 5th grader and Luke will be off to kindergarten!
Don’t worry.. just because we are back in school doesn’t mean the adventures stop! We’ll be off to Baylor’s Beach in a few weekends for Labor Day!
