School is back in and fall is approaching.. the perfect camping weather! BUT we want to squeeze in one more summer camping trip before the pools close for the year! Luke loved Baylor Beach last summer; he's been asking to go back. Labor Day weekend worked out perfectly for a Baylor Beach trip!

This blog trip isn’t as exciting as others… we had a low key weekend.. didn’t lose wallets or keys, no locking ourselves out.. just camping with swimming, food, and fires!

Baylor Beach is a smaller campground, but left a big impression on my kiddos. Very clean, well maintained campground for a perfect close to home weekend getaway! The only thing that bugs me is the chain link fence around the entrance .. a fence is needed as the main road runs by the recreation area.. I just think of chain link fences are an eye sore And the property is so pretty otherwise.

You can just go to swim at the lake for the day! Hayden likes the swimming lake and Luke likes their firewood ..haha! They have a trailer full of fire wood that you can purchase from.

FRIDAY

It is Friday afternoon before we can head out for the weekend. I didn't have time to get food for the weekend, but I did make up somewhat of a menu.. we will stop at Aldi in New Philadelphia on the way to pick up what we need! David likes their parking lot for easy to pull in, park along the back, and right back out with the camper.

The boys are in the back seat yelling why do we have to stop? Why do we have to wait on you to get food.. I can’t always get everything done before we are on our way! I do have to work, we are back in school.. that leaves little time to pack the camper! You wait or you have no food all weekend 💁🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Besides it’s Aldi.. I know where everything is, I’ll be in and out in 20 minutes!

5:00pm we arrive at Baylor Beach..easy check-in. Pretty easy to get around in since it is a small campground.. until you get to the back and loose track of which road you need to go down.. whoops! Turn around with a camper on a no outlet road. It wasn't too bad since there was a lot opened to back into. Ok, now we are on track.. It is a pretty easy set up in the lots here.. a couple boards to level up.

ree

We love our lot .. it has a large back and side yard lined with trees! We are in lot 14 this trip, and we’ve previously stayed in 45 and liked it as well! They were putting in new lots in the back.. looks like they might be open for 2022!

15-20 minute set up and we are good to go! Hayden and Luke are off for a bike ride. Then Hayden is already off to fish in the catch and release lake. There is only a few hours of the day marked out for fishing.. early in the morning and then in the evening. The fishing lake is used for paddle boats, funyaks, and aquabikes.

There is an Amish family that bring baked goods, jams, pickles, and other items to sell from parking lot A at the side towards the campers! I believe they set up every Friday and Saturday evening!

Strawberry fry pies yum!! And we ask if we can order a pie to pick up tomorrow! Sure, black raspberry pie will be delivered tomorrow!

Chilling by the fire.. taking it easy for our last trip to a campground for 2021!

SATURDAY

GOOD MORNING!! ⛅️It is partly cloudy today.. warm enough for the boys to swim, but I dunno if I'm getting too wet! I really should live in Florida when it comes to warm enough to swim! If it’s below 80, I’m not swimming 🥶!

Hayden slept passed the fishing time this morning. Yes, we did wake him to let him know it was time, but he’s on his own to get up and get ready! I’m outside cooking up a breakfast skillet on the grill, no recognition of time... just HUNGRY!

I think he finally woke up at 9:30.. fishing time is over until the evening 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Breakfast and time to take a loop around the campground.. chill in my lounge chair for a minute.. no not really more like follow Lynlee around and keep her out of the road! She’s no longer content playing with toys in front of the camper.. we must explore...and this trip it’s the road every time!

11:00am we are off to the waterpark for the afternoon. Lynlee and I are hanging out in the grass beside the lake .. the water is chilly!

Hayden was addicted to the high dive.. I dunno how many times he jumped off of it..

and once again this is another blog I’m missing my pictures from .. I’m thinking somehow Lynlee may of had my phone and deleted several pictures from a few summer trips 😔

ree

A few hours swimming and then Luke was cold too … we took Lynlee and Luke over to the playground while Hayden was still jumping off the high dive and running on the roller to see who can last the longest!

We finally got Hayden out of the water. David and I walked/pushed the stroller with Lynlee, and the boys rode their bikes around to the back of the park and down the happy campers walking trail.

ree

We were enjoying our walk through the trees.. along a cornfield.. down to the end where it loops around to go back.. there’s a nice creek that flows by.. BUT the bugs were terrible! Bugs flying around like snow falling 😩.. we didn’t hang out here long and we headed back out the trail! Maybe because it was evening the bugs were worse.. another time of day might be more enjoyable!

There is the Amish!! We pick up our black raspberry pie we ordered for dinner on Sunday when Grandma Joan and Grandma T come to visit! 😋 and a few more fry pies …

I usually enjoy making dinner and dessert when people come to visit us while camping, but I’m having my low key weekend thanks to the Amish! If I could order a whole Amish meal I just might! Back to the camper to get dinner cooking! A snack to try to contain Lynlee while I get food together!

ree

Hayden got a little more fishing time in.. he likes their lake as he always catches nice fish.. I can’t find my fishing pictures from this year so we will have a throwback to July 2020 fishing at Baylor Beach:

and of coarse we finish off the evening with a fire built by Luke .. and the all original s‘mores!

I’m pretty impressed as this has actually been a low key weekend like I had planned! I don’t get that often! There’s always something to get into. That is the reason I was excited for the smaller campground! Fun for the kids yet low key for us adults!! 😉

That’s a wrap for Saturday! GOODNIGHT💤

SUNDAY

Good Morning!! The sun is shining bright today! ☀️ Still not in the 80s for me but much warmer!

Fishing, swimming, riding bikes, consist of the morning and early afternoon.

Then Grandma Joan and Grandma T are here to visit.. they walk over to the swimming lake to watch, the boys aren’t done swimming yet!

Time for paddle boats!!

There are little streams of water shooting in the air off the ends of the pavilion you can peddle your boat through.. Hayden was supposed to avoid getting Grandma wet… they should know Hayden better than that by now..🤦🏼‍♀️ lol .. at least he didn’t soak her.. 😂

ree

Back to the camper for dinner and a fire!

My dinner recipe for tonight..keeping it simple still.. click the link below to see the full recipe!

I did make a few modifications to this recipe.. I use Angry Orchard Green Apple in place of the beer when boiling my brats.. then I place the veggies in an disposable foil 9x13 pan.. place brats on top and cook on the grill. I would guess time/temp is the same as recipe, but my grill doesn’t have a temperature gauge on it so I dunno I just test it!

and no, this is not a recipe the boys are gonna eat.. they stuck to their grilled cheese in a pie iron over the fire 😋

Our black raspberry pie for dessert! YUM! And an easy clean up!!

A visit around the fire then Grandma Joan and Grandma T are on their way home..

We are off to shower and bed .. it is a little early but cool outside so the boys turn a movie on before bed. They like movie nights in the camper.. even on a 32” TV!

GOODNIGHT💤

MONDAY

Today is Labor Day! The boys ride bikes while we pack up to head home!

I’m going to throw in one more throwback to July 2020 so you can see their aqua bikes! The boys had a blast on them!

ree

That‘s a wrap for our campground adventures for 2021, BUT we will be back for 4 more rounds of GNCC racing this fall!!

We are headed home today to clean up.. work a few days then head back out on Thursday to Beckly, WV for the Mountaineer GNCC!
